From the 4th until the 9th of September, 4th-year Design Academy Eindhoven students from the Digital Focus module participated in a creative sprint – the Production Hackathon. During this workshop, the students were challenged to think fast, divide roles, prototype quickly and collaborate using various phygital tools – all to create a short movie.
The goal of this Hackathon was to introduce new students to the Trans Realities Lab space as well as each other; to allow them to grasp basic concepts of virtual production and get a brief glimpse of the tools available to them this semester.
The students used a variety of physical and digital tools (such as projection screens, DMX-controlled lights, BlackMagic cameras, green screens, Blender, After Effects, etc.) to create a short film about “Describing the present to the past”, which the students had the artistic freedom to interpret however they wanted. The movie was showcased on two projection screens parallel to each other.
