The Trans Realities Lab will be making waves at Hamburg’s Next Reality Festival 2025 from the 5th until the 6th of November, where Professor Ian Biscoe and Andreas Dahn will present “Cat Content” – a groundbreaking achievement in immersive cinema and the world’s first film produced entirely within the Metaverse.
This presentation goes beyond traditional film screening, offering festival-goers an inside look at how XR-IT’s networked infrastructure enabled a hybrid production pipeline. From pre-visualization to final rendering, every aspect of “Cat Content” was created within interconnected virtual spaces, with collaborators joining from multiple locations to craft a narrative that explores quantum entanglement through the lens of feline curiosity.
The session will explore the technical innovations that made this production possible, the creative opportunities that emerge when filmmaking transcends physical limitations, and the implications for the future of cinema in an age of extended realities. “Cat Content” represents more than a technological achievement – it’s a proof of concept for entirely new modes of collaborative creation, where the boundaries between pre-production, production, and post-production dissolve into a continuous creative flow within persistent virtual environments.
